Chrome, Leather and Ink. No shortage exists at the Riverside Convention Center. You can see plenty of tattoo sleeves lining entire arms and artwork proudly displayed on biceps. But look closer. Yep, that's right. You'll find cats and other critters permanently inked upon flesh, staring back at you. Who would have guessed? These burly guys and leather-clad chicks are a bunch of softies.
Softies...on a mission to honor a dear friend while helping homeless animals. For that, Adopt A Pet's staff and volunteers are truly thankful for the 1st Annual "Warriors Never Die" memorial benefit honoring James Forman.
Forman believed in helping those who couldn't help themselves. He never turned down a stray and you could say he acted as an "equal opportunity lender." He cared for cats, dogs, ferrets, sugar gliders and more. Knowing this, Forman's friends thew a benefit befitting any pet-loving motorcyclist.
The biker benefit consisted of a full line-up of bands, food, and an auction featuring everything from beaded necklaces to hand-carved Elm Knifes. All proceeds benefited Adopt A Pet. Warriors Never Die Founder Lance Hayes spent seven months organizing the benefit. When thanked, Hayes modestly shrugged off the praise and said, "It's what James would have wanted. We'll never forget him."
It's a legacy of dedication and service offering Forman's loved ones a chance to heal...just as it offers a second chance for abandoned animals at Adopt A Pet.
